University of Western Australia adopts OpenSpecimen

The University of Western Australia (UWA) adopts OpenSpecimen as its Biobanking LIMS. Implemented as part of The Western Australian Health Translation Network (WAHTN) the WA Biobank will use OpenSpecimen to create, for the first time, a statewide virtual biobank. OpenSpecimen will be a central biospecimen resource that will be utilized by multiple biobanks across the Western Australia state.

UWA will be using OpenSpecimen to manage their:

  1. Multiple research groups across the state
  2. Clinical and pathology data
  3. Specimen catalogs to share data
  4. Manage specimen request and distribution
