Abstract: Scientists are analyzing 5,400 proteins in blood samples from 500,000 UK Biobank participants to better understand how protein changes affect disease development and treatment. Supported by pharmaceutical companies, the project will create a unique database by studying samples taken years apart from some individuals. Initial data from 300,000 samples will be exclusively available to industry partners before broader research access.
Previous UK Biobank studies identified thousands of genetic links to protein levels, helping find new biomarkers and drug targets. The data is also used to train AI models for early disease prediction. This groundbreaking effort promises to advance personalized medicine and disease prevention worldwide.
