Following is a poster on the implementation and usage of OpenSpecimen at the Washington University School of Medicine (WUSM). David Mulvihill, Director of Informatics for Siteman Cancer Center, presented this poster at the ISBER 2019 Conference (Minneapolis).
WUSM has been using OpenSpecimen for 10+ years as the “Enterprise” biospecimen management platform. Within WUSM, OpenSpecimen is used by ~100 users across ~50 sites including the Tissue Procurement Core (TPC), Alliance Trial, and other disease-based biorepositories.
The TPC is a centralized biorepository that collects, processes, and stores human biospecimens for biomedical research. Currently, the TPC contains 2+ million specimens, being managed using OpenSpecimen.
