Laboratory Science Professionals at all levels perform duties in an experimental lab, or wet lab, and handle a variety of chemicals and/or potential “wet” hazards. Laboratory Science Professionals at all levels perform duties in laboratories where chemicals, drugs, or other materials or biological matters are tested and analyzed.
Principal Laboratory Science Professionals either act as work/team leads for 2 or more FTE Professionals.
This professional will be working in the Bjornstad Laboratory. Our studies focus on defining the relationships between insulin resistance, renal energetics and function in early DKD by using clamps, renal physiology studies and state-of-the-art MRI and pet assessments. A better understanding of the metabolic and hemodynamic mechanisms underlying the development of DKD can help us better understand how to slow, stop or completely prevent DKD. This candidate will be responsible for measuring iohexol, iothalamate, p-aminohippurate and dextran clearance by a HPLC as well as measuring ultrasensitive copeptin on Kryptor Compact Plus instruments. This candidate will also be responsible for specimen processing and biobanking, and management of our biorepository.
