Biobank Operations Manager (hybrid)

Responsibilities include:

Project Management

  • Collaborate with Biobank leadership, team, and researchers to manage complex projects, ensuring effective communication and coordination in alignment and support of the mission and vision of the Biobank

  • Develop and implement a robust process for obtaining necessary consents/authorizations for sample collection, adhering to applicable legal and ethical requirements.

  • Establish and maintain comprehensive records and associated clinical databases to ensure accurate and well-organized documentation.

  • Oversee and manage the whole pipeline of sample requests and delivery, ensuring compliance with quality and ethical standards, as well as the adherence to agreed-upon timelines for delivery to users and customers.

  • Implement effective task tracking systems to monitor and manage project progress, ensuring timely completion of deliverables.

  • Proactively identify any potential issues or delays in project timelines and take appropriate measures to address them.

Biobank Process Oversight

  • Provide strategic oversight and guidance in the areas of sample collection, accessioning, processing, labeling, storing, and cataloging, ensuring compliance with established protocols. Assist with process as needed.

  • Oversee the coordination and tracking of DNA, RNA, and protein extraction from blood and tissue samples, ensuring accuracy and integrity. Assist with process as needed.

  • Establish and maintain robust systems for retrieving requested samples, preparing sample inventories, and generating accurate data reports.

  • Ensure proper preparation of samples for shipping and receiving, following established protocols and compliance requirements.

  • Implement comprehensive data traceability systems using the biobank information management systems to ensure accuracy and integrity of all processes.

Biobank Management

  • Provide leadership in delivering customer-focused service and proactively managing and resolving client issues related to the biobank.

  • Oversee the inventory management of biobank supplies and complex equipment, ensuring availability and efficient utilization.

  • Maintain service records and prepare invoices for products and services

  • Collaborate with Biobank Leadership to ensure timely updating and organization of protocols related to research studies and the overall management of the biobank.

  • Coordinate the maintenance and calibration of scientific instrumentation (e.g., centrifuges, freezers, sample processing machines) in partnership with the Quality Management team.

  • Facilitate training sessions on policies and procedures, with a focus on quality compliance.

  • Respond to after-hours emergencies to ensure the integrity of the facility and its products

  • Identify, investigate, and appropriately resolve any service/process failures related to the biobank.

Perform other duties as requested to support the effective functioning of the biobank.
