Job Description Summary:

Applicant will undertake research focused on understanding human airway biology in asthma and additional pulmonary diseases including testing of novel biologic therapies. Expected to generate clear, concise notes and reports. Applicant will be expected to adhere to the highest standards for conducting scientific research. Applicant will be expected to be able to accurately follow specific instructions from the Principal Investigator and Program Director in addition to research protocols and standard operating procedures and manuals.

Classification created to permit compensation to individuals performing research on Campus and in the Medical Center using University facilities without detailed supervision. Incumbents may guide the research of others and participate, to a limited degree, in classroom instruction. The use of this classification is reserved for those who have either received a doctorate or have demonstrated equivalent professional attainment.

Job Description:

Required Qualifications:

  • MS or a BA/BS degree with appropriate experience with an emphasis in biological science, or a related discipline. Demonstrated abilities that include attention to detail, strong work ethic, and good interpersonal skills. Proficient with translational research methods including tissue culture, microscopy, ELISA, antibody labeling, protein biochemistry, molecular biology and Microsoft Office, Adobe and Imaging software (or equivalent).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior research experience with human specimens, biospecimen processing and biobanking, BSL-2 techniques, culturing of primary cells as well as immune-fluorescence microscopy, flow cytometry and data analysis.

Job Duties Outlined:

  • Perform data collection and analysis. Generate accurate notes and records relating to research activities.
  • Present updates and summaries related to research activities and projects utilizing Microsoft Office and Adobe Software (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Illustrator, Photoshop).
  • Adhere to project timelines and deadlines.
  • A team player; project oriented.
  • Achieve and maintain up-to-date all appropriate laboratory training and certifications.
  • Assist with laboratory research activities as directed by Principal Investigator and Program Director.
  • Other duties as assigned by Principal Investigator and Program Director.
