Research Analyst

Department Specific Functions:

• Maintain database using data software
• Verifies accuracy and internal consistency of reports, including required state and federal reports.
• Leads team effort on complex projects, providing guidance and structure to staff and collaborators.
• Ensures proper technical documentation and preparation of tabular, written reports and oral presentations.
• Completes surveys and reports, discipline-specific accreditation, admission, and grant proposals.
• Gathers patient data in order to register patients in biobanking software and enters associated clinical data.
• Assists in writing SOP’s for data management
• Confirms clinical data meets the requirements of the BSSR SOP’s.
• Ensures appropriate annotation of biospecimens.
• Conduct QA/QC to ensure accurate data entry, reviews data inconsistencies and follows up with data correction/ data clarification requests.
• Manages the collection and storage of all pertinent clinical data associated with a biospecimen.
• Updates the database each time the biospecimen is moved within or out of the biospecimen resource.
• Manages database for inventory functions, tracking of all phases of biospecimen acquisition, processing, handling, QA/QC and distribution from the collection site (research participant) to utilization (researcher).
• Oversees the BSSR’s data storage and retrieval system.
• Reviews biospecimen database and retrieves relevant data for project feasibility purposes
• Analyzes data and interprets research findings.
• Provides feedback and assistance on honing the conclusions and recommendations into actionable findings.
• Ensure the safety of stored data by implementing security programs.
• Devise disaster recovery plans, upgrade databases as needed, install and test new software and run back-up programs to prevent the loss of any data
• Responsible for creating new databases or upgrading existing databases
• Perform maintenance on databases, check data accessibility and troubleshoot problems with new systems as needed
• Manage data backup operations
• Performs other related duties as required by the BSSR
