Baylor College of Medicine upgrades to OpenSpecimen from caTissue

We are happy to announce that the Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) has recently adopted OpenSpecimen as their “Biobanking LIMS.” The Pathology and Histology Core at BCM houses a tissue bank and offers comprehensive histology and pathology support for many research projects.

BCM  biobank is one of the oldest users of caTissue (the previous avatar of OpenSpecimen). They are now upgrading to OpenSpecimen to utilize the latest tech stack, new features, and workflow/screen configurability options.

They will be using OpenSpecimen to manage:

  1. Multisite study collections
  2. Longitudinal study collections
  3. Specimen requests and distributions
